Why Moments?

As I thought about what to call this blog, the word “moments” kept coming to mind.  Our life is but a series of moments, some good, some bad, but they still make up the sum of our life.  For me, this is a new moment in my growth.  I am now a blogger.

My goal is that this moment in my life be a blessing to your life as you read this.  I pray you are challenged, encouraged and uplifted, if just for a moment.  And I pray that you hear of God’s grace in this blog because as David wrote in Psalm 30:5, “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.”

About the picture at the top:  That was a moment of fun last year.  My wife and I were hiking with our kids at Smith Rock in Oregon.  It was a tough, but beautiful and fun hike.  People were climbing the mountain.  We are hikers, not climbers.  So upon a challenge, I took the basket down and laid in it.  As a father, anything to make the kids laugh.  Still, I don’t think that picture will remain long.

I am just glad you didn’t see me kicking and screaming. Not a pretty sight. Thanks for your kind words.

I like the name–Moments. Think about that when you write your blog posts, ‘cuz that’s how long it should take to read a blog.

I like the title, too. “Sweet the moments, rich in blessing, which before the cross we spend…” from and old OLD hymn with a momentous message. (Hymns HAVE those, don’t you know?) Bet you’ll get lots of puns!

I’m thinking that if we had baskets (like the one you are reclining in) or hammocks for the pews we may get more members. Something to think about.
I am totally disappointed that Alicia and I didn’t get the picture of you at your ordination. It would be a great welcoming picture in the office. That darn Sue!!!

It was offered to me first, but I felt intimidated by the rugged good looks. Too much for me!

I enjoyed the blog also. I’m fighting moving into this century but I am being forced to. Hope to here more from you. I love you! Your favorite sister.
